And so it was that I spent yet another night in hotel this week in order to see Spencer Jones in A Beautiful Noise in Chicago. And weather intervened to change travel plans on Saturday too, but that’s another story. Spencer, who is nearing his 21st birthday, is in his second year of national tour.

I am returning home today from the annual meeting of the National Association of Schools of Music, held this year at a resort in Orlando. An expensive resort, mind you! On Disney property. Sunday and Monday were fine days of connecting with colleagues, many of whom I already knew through this association and my volunteer

Tomato soup

Last weekend, I decided to use up a big can of San Marzano tomatoes that was in the pantry. The result was eleven pints of homemade tomato soup. I’ve already given some away and will give away more, but I’m keeping five pints for myself.
