Research

In the past few days, I’ve grown very serious about finishing the research project that started 2.5 years ago on a whim.  The American Operetta Project has an end in sight.  I’m nearing the final decision on which songs make the cut. Stacks of papers are being reduced daily.  I’m at 70 on the list, and needing to pare that down to 50.

My muse in this project is Rudolf Friml. I’m loving his inventive melodies that still fit every genre necessary.

So far, these composers are still in the mix, all with music that is now public domain:

  • Hoschna, Karl
  • Edwards, Julian
  • DeKoven, Reginald
  • Luders, Gustave
  • Johnstone, Alexander
  • Sousa, John Philip
  • Kerker, Gustave
  • Friml, Rudolf
  • Herbert, Victor
  • Stuart, Leslie
  • Klein, Manuel
  • Penn, Arthur
  • Sloane, A. Baldwin

The goal is to have all of this ready by December 31, so I can deal with publication in the new year.  And so I can have this project behind me.
