Random thoughts

Jason, of “Jason’s Song” fame, had another birthday this week. I wish I could have joined him to celebrate.

A chance encounter at the Muny lower lot led to a serendipitous visit on Friday. Grace Jones had just dropped off her son, and I was dropping off Tyler who had been hanging with me after his costume fitting. So she came back to my place, with strawberries!, and we feasted on incredibly sweet berries, and chattered for an hour.

How was this possible, you ask? Me? At home on a Friday afternoon just before the semester begins? I’m no longer department chair!

The Great Battle of the Meeces continues. I found new evidence of another intruder at mid-week. Steps are being taken to rid my residence of unwanted rodents, no matter how cute they may be.

Some nights you just need pizza. That was Friday night. After a long, strawberry-induced nap, I ordered from Elicia’s.

I forget how tiring grief is. Tuesday and Wednesday . . . exhausted and physically weary by 8 p.m. So Thursday I stayed away from the house until after 8, and then had only a slight melt-down upon returning home. Grief comes in waves of course, and Friday evening I realized that Nelson’s face was my wallpaper on my iPad, and had another spasm of grief all over again. (This was after the pizza.)

I’ve been sleeping like a zombie this week.

After conversation with Grace, part of this next week’s menu includes cold cucumber soup!

And I’ve now changed my iPad wallpaper to this shot from Mount Rainier:

And here’s “Jason’s Song”:
