BBQ tour

The BBQ tour continued Friday with a stop at Hogtown Smokehouse in nearby Dogtown.

Brisket. Superior char. Excellent smoky flavor. But fatless, and dry. It needed some juice. Or a good long soak in sauce.

Sauce. The sweet sauce was not smoky, but was exceptionally sweet. The spicy sauce was make-me-sweat spice with a lingering mouth feel. Next time I’ll mix the two.

Beans. Ok. Just ok. Pieces of beef mixed with the pinto and kidney beans. Unexceptional sauce. No smokiness. But some heat.

Applesauce. Too chunky and sweet for me.

I’d go again in a pinch, but it was all a bit middle-of-the-road for me.
