Finally

Finally, success at the DMV!

Mariele the Volvo has been an illegitimate chariot for the past few months.

I purchased her outright in October, but had never titled her in my name rather than the name of Volvo Financial. My first visit to the DMV was foiled by an emissions inspection that was 11 days past its expiration. Curses! I made multiple attempts at an emissions inspection, always finding a long line of waiting cars.

Finally getting the inspection, I went back to the DMV only to find that they needed a property tax waiver. Of course they had not told me this the first time. I’ll save that story for an in-person visit.

So Monday morning, waiver in hand, I got in the virtual line two minutes after the shop opened, summoned Mariele to take me to Maplewood, and finally licensed and titled the car in my name.

And paid the sales tax.

And the penalty for not titling within 30 days (even though Volvo Financial took two months to send me the paperwork).

And the license fee for two years.

All’s well that ends well.
