Please allow me to introduce the newest member of my household, Mistress Maisie. Or, Maisie, for short. Maisie comes to me as a rescue/surrender. Her previous humans could not keep her because one of them is now in hospice care. They returned her to the breeder (she’s a purebred West Highland White Terrier), who remember

I had a reckoning last week. I was on Zoom in a pop/rock styles class, and caught a glimpse of my thumbnail. And saw my father staring back at me.
