New composition

October 2021.  A chance question in an Episcopal musician group on Facebook led to me think about setting the canticles for Evening Prayer to music for unaccompanied choir, with minimal divisi.

I realized quickly that my vocabulary for this setting was going to include generous amounts of closer harmony, and plenty of shimmer with a few moments of abandon.

These “Saint Louis” canticles are the result.
