No Egypt

I sent this to six fellow travelers last evening:

I write this evening with the sad news that the Egypt trip is canceled for May 2012.

EF Tours does not have enough people going to Egypt on any of the May departure dates this year to guarantee the tour price that we have been quoted. Rather than have them expect us to pay an upcharge for a smaller group than their normal business model, they have offered us a full refund on the entire amount you have paid to date.

In over a decade of traveling with EF Tours, I have never before experienced this situation.  But the world has changed, and the unrest in Egypt has caused what was once EF’s most popular college tour destination to be one that is now filling people with second thoughts, and leading to canceled travel plans.

Alas – no Egypt for me this year.
