Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle, Indiana is the burial place of four US Congressmen plus the parents of Col. Eli Lilly (as in Eli Lilly & Co.).
The cemetery’s southern edge includes a small military burial section. The markers for the Civil War soldiers are barely readable now, but the more recent ones, from the Spanish-American War to the present, give plenty of information.
Much of the older part of the cemetery is indeed established on hills, with some lovely vistas.
I forget how much history resides in Indiana, and how this state, and those states east of Indiana, take their history so seriously.
I also forget how lovely small towns can be in Indiana, in an ineffable way not found in Missouri or Illinois or Kansas.
