I’ve been at the Lake of the Ozarks for the last three nights, attending the annual meeting we call MMEA, or Music Music Educators Association. Much of my time has been spent at the Webster booth in the exhibit area:

What arrived the other day? My first-ever royalty check specifically for solo songs. I’m delighted!!
My setting of “Storypeople Songs” will be performed at Northwestern University in early March as part of a degree recital. The event happens to coincide with a visit of my own to Chicago, so I’ll attend the recital that day!
As a kid, I would sometimes convince my mother to purchase a tube of cornmeal mush from the grocer. She introduced me to mush, and I’ve always liked it.
Of course, mush for breakfast is like polenta for dinner, which is something else I like.
Last weekend I decided to make some mush at home. I opened The Joy of Cooking, found the recipe, and went to work.
My only complaint — this needs more salt.
I’ve been enjoying mush for breakfast for the last week, usually with honey on top, but one time with maple syrup.
