I wrote this Collect just before choir rehearsal yesterday morning:
O unchanging God, you give strength to those weary from screaming high notes about herald angels, and voice to those who are frankly pretty tired after Christmas Eve services. Grant us grace this morning to voice your praise afresh, anew, mindful that our friends in heaven sing with unceasing hymns, and help us prompt this congregation to songs of wonder, love, and praise on this holy morn. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our newborn King. Amen.
Three services on Christmas Eve, with a dinner between the latter two, and then a 9.15 a.m. call on Christmas Day . . . this was wearying!
But Jesus is born, and all is well.
