The tune is KENNETH in honor of my dear and delightful friend Ken Rodgers, a colleague from KU days, a fellow traveler, a companion and compatriot.
Ken chose the text.
At 12.55 a.m., I am just in from the third church service of the evening, this one two hours long. The thurible was on fire at one point, and my aisle-walking mate tripped down the steps, but otherwise all went well.
I’m now retiring with a glass of bubbly to listen to ‘This Christmastide’ and Lauridsen’s ‘O magnum mysterium’ from the Brompton Oratory. That will take me to sleep on this holy night.
