The campaign of George McGovern against Richard Nixon is the first political contest I remember. I was 11 that year.
George McGovern, a good and honest man, and a Liberal who knew how to compromise in order to gain more common good, died today. May he rest in peace.
Now, does anyone else think that 50-year-olds in 1972 looked older then than 51-year-olds do today? I don’t know, and I hope I’m correct, but I think that I look younger now than he did at the same age….. McGovern does have really good teeth; I’ll give him that.
