10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13.
I slept with the windows open last night. And this morning I’m paying for that delicious indiscretion with a slightly stuffy nose. But what joy this is, to hear the birds all a-twitter at 5 a.m. in the last days of winter.

The equinox is still a week away. But my peonies are six inches tall. I have daffodils from my garden gracing my kitchen table. And the mourning doves are crying with gusto and delight.
On this Tuesday morning of Spring Break, I slept in, then made a breakfast of bacon and fried eggs, a piece of toast, and some fresh fruit. Now with bills paid and some emails written, at some point this morning I’ll run by the bank, go by a new television, and then hit the office for a few hours of catch-up. The next two days are office days. Friday is a day off. I am taking life slower this week; Sunday felt like a true vacation, especially with seeing friends in Ohio and not traveling with a computer.
