This posting marks a landmark for this little blog – my 1000th post.

I realized this summer that 1000 was approaching (many months since the first on December 31, 2006, and a lifetime later!), and I wondered a few times how I might mark the anniversary.  Do some big announcement?  Let it pass unnoticed?  Ponder some life-changing truth?

In the moment, I’m content just to put 1000 on the Internet, and let it go by.  But not without a few words first.

I’m in a good place in life.  At age 48, I live a blessed life with a day job that suits me and gives me both pleasure and challenge, a night job that allows me to be artistic and connected to a different circle, a great house that just feels right, a healthy and heart-warming dog, family that is close enough but still a half-day’s drive, friends ’round the world.  I’m blessed by the God of all things, and by all the little demi-gods who inhabit little niches in our world.

I turn into this weekend, with students back on campus, ready for . . . invigorated for! . . . another school year.  A weekend workshop behind us, I’m invigorated again for Gateway Men’s Chorus, and excited about the possibilities this year.

Dreams and hopes and desires continue to live, but this today is pretty fine.
