This has been a day off for me, thanks be to God.
I found out from the repairman this morning that my ice maker is finished, so there’s a bit of expense coming down the pike. Meanwhile, ice is made the old-fashioned way.
At about 10.30 this morning, Glen and Tim arrived to take me on rounds with them. Before four hours were up, we’d stopped at
- Soulard Farmer’s Market
- Globe Drugs in Soulard
- Jay International Grocers on South Grand
- Volpi’s and DiGrigorio’s on the Hill
- The Wine and Cheese Shop.
Here are the purchases today:
The grocery bags included sesame seeds, lentils, guarana from Brazil, pineapple, wine, Danish butter, tomato paste in a tube, capers, roasted red peppers, dried onion, beef and chicken stock, raspberry jam, pasta, and so on.
I napped, finished laundry, paid bills, answered emails, and then prepared a light dinner for D before we went to see a movie. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is curious indeed. I think it tries to hard, and it sorely needed editing, but I give the movie high praise for cinematography, art direction, special effects, and sound design.
Here are two pics of Samson today:
